On September 1, ten young professionals at Leitz took the first step into their careers. At the company sites in Oberkochen and Unterschneidheim, they began their training in various fields – including cutting machine operator, technical product designer, industrial clerk, and industrial mechanic. In October, the group will be joined by a student of mechanical engineering, who will start his dual studies with the precision tool manufacturer.
The new trainees were welcomed by Managing Director Christian Zahn and HR Manager Sebastian Schießl, who extended a warm greeting to the newcomers. “The young people who start their training with us today are the skilled workers of tomorrow. We want to show them that at Leitz they not only learn a profession but also become part of a community that stands worldwide for quality and innovation,” said Zahn.
The starting point was a varied introduction week. In addition to company tours at the group headquarters in Oberkochen and the further site in Unterschneidheim as well as at the service center in Neresheim, joint activities were the focus. An afternoon of mini golf, an etiquette seminar, and a first aid course not only fostered team spirit but also practically prepared the trainees for their start. The week concluded with a trip to Lake Brombach, where a visit to a climbing park and a boat trip created memorable experiences.
Training young talents has always been an integral part of Leitz’s corporate culture. It is characterized by practical content, a strong sense of values, and diverse development opportunities. Particularly valuable are the direct exchanges with trainees from other sites – for example, in neighboring European countries – as well as the chance to spend some time in one of Leitz’s global subsidiaries, which opens up new perspectives. Close contact with Leitz’s customers is equally important: their satisfaction is the top priority for all employees. Therefore, trainees learn early on the central role that Leitz tools, tool systems, and services play in customers’ success. At the same time, it is essential for the company that young talents internalize from the beginning the values and identity of Leitz as a global market leader with strong regional roots.
