Laminate, parquet & Co.

Strong, safe and demanding in processing

When renovating or building, floor coverings are the basis for the desired living and room feel in interior design. Depending on the material and colour, every room looks different. But not only the look determines the choice of the floor covering. Hygiene, resilience and the individual requirements in the use of the space are playing an ever-increasing role in the choice of floor covering. Installation and quality are now also aspects that are increasingly becoming more important when it comes to choosing the right floor for the end consumer.

The challenges for industrial flooring producers using wood, plastics or composite materials are as diverse as the demands on the finished end product.

Laminate, LVT, SPC & parquet processing

Laminate floors consist of different materials – HDF, MDF, decorative paper and corresponding protective coating of melamine resin – which are joined together in layers by hot pressing. Laminate is generally produced in large-format panels, which are then processed accordingly. Although laminate has similar properties to solid wood, the processing of this laminated material is completely different and no less demanding.

Vinyl floor coverings also known as SPC, WPC or LVT are flooring materials consisting of a thick plastic layer and printed decorative designs. Due to their high flexibility and extreme load-bearing capacity, they are mainly used in gyms, public bathrooms or in private houses and garages. Due to the high plastic content, these floors are extremely resilient, but with their material properties, they bring specific challenges to production.

Floorboards are cut completely from a solid piece of wood and consist exclusively of very high-quality and specially treated wood. Parquet floors consist either of solid wood panels or fine wood veneer glued to a carrier layer of another type of wood. Both types of solid wood floors have their own special properties and, above all, are highly resilient and can be used over a very long period of time. Parquet or plank floors require tongue and groove joints to be installed and are either floating or firmly glued to the floor.
